Teeth Whitening Price in KL (2026): What You Pay and What You Actually Get
By Dr Teo Xin Yi, BDS, MDC 8469

If you have searched "teeth whitening price Malaysia", you have probably seen everything from RM18 toothpaste to RM2,500 clinic packages, and a lot of promos in between. This guide from Heal Dental Clinic in Bukit Jalil lays out what whitening really costs in Kuala Lumpur and what changes the price.
The short answer
Professional in-clinic teeth whitening in the Klang Valley generally ranges from around RM300 to RM2,500. At Heal Dental Clinic Bukit Jalil, whitening uses the Beyond LED whitening system and costs RM390 for Express and RM790 for Full Cycle, done by a dentist after an examination.
What whitening costs in KL right now
| Option | Typical price in KL | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Whitening toothpaste | Roughly RM18 to RM80 | Removes some surface stain, does not change the natural shade of your teeth. |
| Strips, pens and online kits | From under RM100 to a few hundred ringgit | Low strength by law if sold legally, which is why results are modest. Unregulated kits are a different risk altogether. |
| Dentist-supervised take-home whitening | Usually RM500 to RM1,000 in KL | Using custom trays and professional gel. |
| In-clinic whitening | Typically RM300 to RM2,500 | Depending on the system, the number of gel cycles and what is included. |
Heal Dental whitening prices
Express Whitening: RM390 A shorter in-clinic session using the Beyond LED system. Suits you if your teeth are already fairly light and you want a visible lift before an event, or you are topping up a previous whitening.
Full Cycle Whitening: RM790 The complete in-clinic protocol. Suits you if you have years of kopi, teh tarik or tea staining, or you want the fuller change your starting shade allows.
Not sure which one fits? That is what the examination is for. Our registered dentist checks your starting shade, your gums and any existing fillings or crowns first, then tells you honestly which option makes sense, including when whitening is not the right treatment at all.
Why prices vary so much between clinics
The whitening system and gel. Different systems use different gel concentrations and light accelerators. A lower price sometimes means fewer or shorter gel cycles.
How many cycles you get. Two clinics can both advertise "one session whitening" and deliver very different amounts of gel contact time. Always ask how many cycles are included.
What is included. Examination, scaling, polishing (air polishing), gum protection and shade recording may or may not be in the quoted price.
The costs nobody puts on the poster
Scaling first. Whitening gel cannot work evenly through tartar and surface stain. If you have not had a clean in the last six months, you will likely need scaling and polishing before whitening. At Heal Dental that is RM100 to RM200. Read our scaling and polishing price guide for what affects that range.
Untreated cavities or gum problems. Whitening over a cavity or inflamed gums causes real sensitivity. These need treating first.
Crowns, veneers and fillings on your front teeth. Whitening only lightens natural teeth. If you have visible dental work, it will stay the same colour while the teeth around it get lighter. Some patients choose to replace an old crown or filling afterwards to match, which is a cost worth knowing about before you start. For patients who want a bigger change in shape and colour, veneers may be the better conversation.
Knowing these up front is the difference between a RM390 result you are happy with and a RM390 result that looks patchy.
"Cheap" whitening that ends up expensive
Salon whitening and unregulated online kits look like savings. In Malaysia, whitening products above a minimal peroxide level are meant for use by registered dental practitioners only, so a legal salon product is too weak to do much, and an illegal one carries a real risk of gum burns and severe sensitivity with no clinician responsible when it goes wrong. We cover the safety side in more detail in Teeth Whitening in Malaysia: What Works and What Is Safe.
Is professional whitening worth it?
Think of it per month rather than per visit. If a Full Cycle result lasts you a year with sensible habits, that works out to around RM66 a month. Results vary from person to person, and heavy coffee drinkers and smokers will see them fade sooner, but that is the honest way to compare it against months of whitening toothpaste that does not change your shade.
When to book before a big event
Book at least two to three weeks ahead of the date. That leaves time for scaling if you need it, for any mild sensitivity to settle, and for your shade to stabilise before photos.
Common reasons our Bukit Jalil patients book whitening: weddings and pre-wedding shoots, Chinese New Year family photos, convocation, job interviews, and simply being tired of seeing coffee stains in the mirror. For Chinese New Year 2027 (6 February), mid January is a sensible latest date to be done.
How to make your result last longer
Rinse with water after kopi, teh tarik or tea, and use a straw for iced drinks. Avoid dark drinks and curries for the first 48 hours after whitening, when teeth take up stain more easily. Keep up scaling and polishing every six months. Ask us about a top-up rather than starting from scratch when you notice the shade drifting.

Frequently asked questions
How much does teeth whitening cost in Malaysia?
Professional in-clinic whitening in the Klang Valley generally costs RM300 to RM2,500. At Heal Dental Clinic Bukit Jalil, Express whitening is RM390 and Full Cycle whitening is RM790.
What is the difference between Express and Full Cycle whitening?
Express is a shorter session for teeth that are already fairly light, or for a top-up before an event. Full Cycle is the complete protocol for heavier or longer standing staining. Your dentist will recommend one after checking your starting shade.
Are there any side effects from whitening? Will it thin my teeth?
No, professional whitening does not thin your teeth. The gel lightens the colour inside the tooth; it does not remove enamel. The two side effects you may notice are temporary. Sensitivity to cold for a couple of days is common and settles on its own, and we recommend using a sensitivity toothpaste for the first few days after treatment. Mild gum irritation can happen if gel touches the gums, which is why we protect them before starting. Real enamel damage comes from rough abrasives such as charcoal powders and gritty whitening pastes, or from unregulated kits used without a dental check.
Do I need scaling before whitening?
Usually yes, if you have not had a clean in the last six months. Tartar and surface stain block the gel and give a patchy result. Scaling and polishing at Heal Dental costs RM100 to RM200.
How many shades whiter will my teeth get?
It depends on your starting shade, the type of staining and your enamel. Most people see a noticeable change, but no ethical dentist will promise a specific shade. We give you a realistic expectation at your consultation.
Can whitening change the colour of my crowns or fillings?
No. Whitening only lightens natural teeth. If you have visible dental work, we will discuss this before you start so the final result looks even.
How long before a wedding or event should I whiten?
At least two to three weeks before, to allow time for scaling, for sensitivity to settle, and for the shade to stabilise.
Is whitening open on Sundays at Heal Dental?
Yes. We are open Sunday 10am to 5pm, as well as Monday to Saturday 9am to 7pm.
