Mouth Guards

A night guard is a custom-fitted device that cushions your teeth against grinding and clenching while you sleep. A sports mouthguard does the same job against impact in contact sports. Both are moulded to your teeth, so they fit better and protect far more than anything off the shelf.

Common clues are morning jaw soreness, headaches, worn or sensitive teeth, or a partner hearing it. We can also spot the tell-tale wear during a check-up.

You can, but they're bulky, fit poorly, and often end up unworn. A custom guard fits your bite exactly, so it's comfortable and you'll actually keep it in.

With care, a night guard typically lasts several years; sports guards may need replacing sooner with heavy use or as a child's teeth change. We check it at your routine visits.

For grinding-related pain, often yes. By cushioning your bite it reduces strain on the jaw muscles and joints. We'll assess whether grinding is the cause.

Rinse it after each use, brush it gently, and store it dry in its case away from heat. We'll give you full care instructions at your fitting.
